ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Get the Best HQP ready for your challenges!

  • Show how AeroCREATE can prepare the best research graduate students for your industry
  • Get a competitive edge for interviewing and hiring these new HQPs
  • Reduce the in-house training time required to turn newly hired engineers into corporate citizens and leaders

The Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program is an NSERC-funded initiative that supports the training of highly qualified students and post-doctoral fellows. Its main goal is to help graduates transition smoothly into the Canadian workforce.

AeroCREATE is the CREATE initiative for aerospace design and manufacturing.

The HQP Challenge: Post-graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are recognized as superior researchers, highly knowledgeable in advanced science and engineering disciplines. However, they often lack the professional skills and attributes that the aerospace industry expects for a smooth transition into the workforce and a significant contribution to the field.

To overcome this challenge, AeroCREATE builds on the solid foundation of a student’s research capabilities, and integrates corporate-level training in professional development and leadership skills through classes, workshops and an internship.

OFFER AN INTERNSHIP

Students in the AeroCREATE program are required to complete an industrial internship.

This gives them an opportunity to develop the skills they need to bridge university research and industry requirements, while tackling important scientific and industry challenges. The internship will also guarantee you a competitive edge, by helping you identify promising candidates who could enter your workforce as soon as they graduate.

AeroCREATE INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Duration: Minimum 4 months
  • Area: Aerospace-related design, manufacturing and innovation internships (or development of skills relevant to aerospace design and manufacturing)
    • Note that AeroCREATE internship responsibilities should be a match to graduate students’ skills.
  • Salary: All AeroCREATE internships must be paid* (no hourly rate set).

*Companies can receive financial support for the interns’ salary in various forms, such as tax credits or MITACS program funding.

POST AN INTERNSHIP OFFER:

Please prepare a short summary of the internship, including:

  • Your organization’s address
  • Duration of internship and target start date
  • The intern’s activities or responsibilities

Please send this information, along with any questions you may have, to the AeroCREATE program administrator.

We invite you to consult the Meet the students page for examples of AeroCREATE students’ profiles.

JOBS AVAILABLE

Feel free to consult some AeroCREATE students’ profiles online. Their availability for a permanent position would be indicated.

Opportunities for direct connections are available by contacting the AeroCREATE program administrator.

MY BUSINESS DOESN’T HAVE AN INTERNSHIP OR A JOB OFFER AT THIS TIME, BUT I’M INTERESTED IN THIS INITIATIVE!

PARTICIPATE IN WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES

The program also includes classes and workshops, many of which will be taught by instructors drawn from the industry. Students will therefore learn to address scientific issues, while gaining an awareness of the industrial stakeholder’s standpoint.

For more information about participating in the CREATE program, please contact the AeroCREATE administrator.
