Program details


A special five-year program (started in 2017) as part of the Quebec Aerospace Strategy. The objective is to support technology demonstration projects for SMEs.

Objectives:

  • Demonstrating technology in a representative environment
  • Increasing SME leadership on innovation projects
  • Integrating SMEs into the innovation network

Eligibility criteria:

  • Project duration: 2 years
  • Technology readiness level (TRL): A level of 6 attained by the end of the project
  • As a mandatory requirement, the project must be helmed by a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME)
  • Minimum of two (2) industrial partners (including the SME)
  • Minimum of one (1) academic partner (university, college or research centre);
  • Selected research projects must be SME-oriented (economy, employment)

 

Details of project funding


  • Target scope of projects: from $1 million to a maximum of $3 million*
  • Maximum of 50% financial assistance from the MEI;
  • Minimum 20% contribution from industrial partners in cash
  • Additional funding from other programs where applicable.
  • Funding recipients are SMEs and research organizations in Quebec only*within the limits of the available envelope, details provided in the call.

 

Project submission and approval process


The CRIAQ team supports project teams throughout the development of project proposals. It is essential to include a CRIAQ project manager as soon as possible in discussions to ensure that projects are eligible for funding programs. The CRIAQ team will also be able to advise project leaders on the project’s funding structure.

The project approval process is as follows:

  • Evaluation and recommendation by the CRIAQ Scientific Committee
  • Approval by the Board of Directors (if required);
  • Submission to the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI) for final approval.
