The Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace of Quebec (CRIAQ) signs a first agreement with South Korean partners

Montréal, February 28, 2016 – In accordance with the objectives of its international development strategy, the Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation of Québec (CRIAQ) has just signed a collaboration agreement with Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), the province of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the City of Yeongcheon, in order to significantly increase R&D collaboration in the aerospace sector.

The agreement was signed this morning before a large delegation composed of representatives from Gyeongsangbuk-do province, the City of Yeongcheon, KITECH and the Ministry of the Economy, Science and Innovation of Quebec (MESI). The delegation is in Montreal until March 1.

“The dynamism of our partners will stimulate our research and improve our international innovation network, which is growing day by day,” said Denis Faubert, President and CEO of CRIAQ. “I look forward to the fruits of this new partnership,” he added.

The collaborations that will emerge under this agreement will generate research projects in the field of avionics, that is, on all electronic, electrical and computer equipment that assists in the flight of aircraft and spacecraft in the airspace. Although avionics is at the heart of the interests, the agreement can also lead to research projects in other aerospace research sectors.

About the partners

KITECH is the main South Korean industrial research centre funded by the central government. YeongCheon City, for its part, has been designated as an aerospace avionics cluster by the South Korean central government.
